North Korean hackers stole $1.7 billion worth of cryptocurrency in 2022

Hacker groups pose a great threat not only to the banking sector, but also to holders of digital currencies. In 2022, cybercriminals stole a total of $3.4 billion in cryptocurrencies, blockchain company PeckShield found out. A study by another Chainalysis team found that North Korean hackers stole $1.7 billion in virtual assets last year. DeFi protocols have been the hardest hit. 82% of funds were stolen from the decentralized finance market.
