On November 30, the Ministry of Public Security hosted a press conference in Beijing, titled “Public Security and Safeguarding the Party in the New Journey.” The conference highlighted the ministry’s ongoing efforts to combat hacker-related crimes through special operations aimed at “cleaning up the Internet.” This initiative has been effective in enhancing online security and cracking down on cybercriminal activities.
The press conference featured key figures from the Cyber Security Bureau of the Ministry of Public Security. Deputy Director Li Tong, alongside Shi You and Huang Xiaosu, addressed the current cybercrime landscape and the ministry’s proactive measures. Spokesperson Zhang Ming moderated the event, ensuring a comprehensive discussion on the topic.
Li Tong informed attendees about the major breakthroughs in tackling hacker-related offenses. In the digital age, cybercrimes pose significant risks, making the ministry’s vigilance crucial. The special operations have successfully disrupted the ecosystem of such crimes, leading to the resolution of 2,430 cases and the arrest of 7,092 suspects since 2022.
The ministry’s efforts have concentrated on critical aspects of everyday life, including travel, education, medical treatment, and entertainment. Hacker crimes targeting social resources like train tickets, hospital registrations, and online accounts have been particularly scrutinized. Successful operations in various provinces exemplify the effectiveness of these measures.
Attention has also been given to crimes disrupting the market economy and the national tax system. Hacker techniques used for illegal tampering and evasion of taxes have been a significant focus, with substantial recoveries made in evaded taxes and falsely issued invoices.
The ministry has prioritized safeguarding systems vital to the national economy and people’s livelihood. Efforts to prevent illegal intrusion and destruction of information systems have been fruitful, with significant campaigns launched against harmful cyber activities.
A severe approach has been adopted against hacker groups providing technical support for activities like telecommunications fraud and online gambling. This strategy has led to the dismantling of numerous criminal gangs and the prevention of significant financial losses.
In its commitment to ecological preservation, the ministry has taken stern action against those manipulating environmental monitoring systems. Several cases involving data tampering and pollution have been resolved, reflecting the ministry’s dedication to ecological integrity.
The ministry is also addressing crimes involving unauthorized access to professional qualifications and safety licenses. By implementing rigorous security protocols, substantial progress has been made in ensuring safe and lawful operations across various industries.
The Ministry of Public Security’s determined efforts to combat hacker crimes have significantly contributed to national security, social stability, and public welfare. By continuously innovating investigation methods and collaborating with industry authorities, the ministry is setting a global standard in cybersecurity and public safety.
