Cardano Founder Says Dino Coins ADA, Ethereum, XRP Will Be the Big Winners This Cycle

Cardano founder Charles Hoskinson has asserted that ADA, Ethereum, and XRP, sometimes referred to as dinosaur coins, will likely be the big winners in this current market cycle.

Hoskinson expressed this view in a Gokhstein Media podcast episode released on Thursday, February 13, where he discussed the state of the market and his outlook.

Speaking to show host David Gokhstein, he asserted that the bull market was far from over.

To bolster his view, the Cardano founder cited the ease with which the crypto market recovered from capital flight and liquidations on February 3, a previous bearish spell which resulted from tariffs announced by President Donald Trump.

For context, over 700,000 leveraged traders faced liquidation on the day, wiping out positions worth over $2 billion, more than the FTX and LUNA collapses.

Hoskinson argued that while it had taken the crypto markets roughly two years to recover from the latter, it took just two days to recover from the tariff shock.

“These are hot markets!” He asserted.

The Cardano founder attributed the market’s resilience to increased institutional participation, calling it the market’s first institution-led cycle. With institutions at the helm, he noted that he expects a flight to stability and reliability, aka blue chips or dinosaur coins like ADA, ETH, and XRP.

Indeed, there may have already been signs as these assets, besides ETH, experienced triple-digit percentage gains during the market’s Q4 2024 run. They are also seeing significant interest from exchange-traded fund issuers.

Still, Hoskinson contended that Bitcoin would be the biggest winner. Envisioning a future where the asset is held in the portfolios of several countries, the Cardano founder tipped it to eventually be worth at least $250,000.

When asked when the market run would resume, he argued it was likely to kick off in the next six to 12 months, citing regulations, specifically anticipated stablecoin regulations, as the likely catalyst.

He hopes that these regulations will allow the U.S. to move on to issues like token taxonomy and custody.

In the short term, however, he cautioned that market volatility was likely to continue.
