Fusaka Set for Testnet Rollout Ahead of Mainnet Launch
The Fusaka hard fork, short for Fulu-Osaka, is regarded as a major milestone for Ethereum. During the session, it was
shared that Fusaka will be tested on different networks before it goes live on Ethereum’s mainnet.The rollout will start with Holesky on October 1, then move to Sepolia on October 14, and finally to Hoodi on October 28. These test runs will help make sure the upgrade is stable and give developers time to fix any problems before the final launch.
The developers said the exact block numbers, times, and epochs will be decided and confirmed in the coming days.
This shows the team’s cautious approach towards the project. The teams expect blob capacity to double within two weeks after Fusaka goes live. This increase will let Ethereum handle much more data.
Fusaka Upgrade to Boost Ethereum’s Speed and Scale
Fusaka is a major upgrade that will help the Ethereum network grow while staying secure and decentralized.
A big feature the upgrade is poised to bring is the Peer Data Availability Sampling. This is designed to let validators check only small parts of data instead of downloading huge blobs. This is set to make things faster, use less storage, and stay safe.
The upgrade will also raise the network’s block gas limit from 30 million to 150 million, so each block can hold more transactions and handle more activity. Another improvement Fusaka will bring is the Verkle Trees. This will be a new way to store data that makes proofs smaller and easier to check.
Additionally, the Ethereum Virtual Machine (EVM) will also get an upgrade to run smart contracts faster. Together, these updates will reduce congestion, lower costs, and boost Ethereum’s speed and performance.
Ethereum Prepares Fusaka with $2M Bug Hunt
To prepare for the mainnet launch, the Ethereum Foundation has started a four-week Fusaka audit contest. Reportedly, up to $2 million in rewards will go to researchers who find bugs or security issues. This came after the foundation launched a burned tokenized version of the Ethereum coin.
With the December 3 release date coming closer, testing on different networks will determine how smooth the rollout will be.
Ethereum’s journey continues after Fusaka, with the next upgrade, Glamsterdam, planned for 2026. It will bring faster block times and a new EVM format to make the network more efficient.
