Henley’s data also shows a sharp increase among the ultra-wealthy. The number of crypto centimillionaires—investors holding over $100 million in digital assets—rose 38% to 450, while the tally of crypto billionaires climbed 29% to 36.
The report attributes much of this growth to Bitcoin’s outperformance over the past year. The count of Bitcoin millionaires jumped 70% to 145,100, while Bitcoin centimillionaires rose 63% to 254. Even Bitcoin billionaires saw a 55% increase, reaching 17 worldwide.
Phillipp Baumann, founder of Z22 Technologies, told Henley that Bitcoin is increasingly viewed as “the base currency for accumulating wealth,” helping explain its outsized impact on overall fortunes.
Despite the wealth surge, total global crypto user growth was modest, rising only 5% to about 590 million people.
Henley described 2025 as a “watershed year for institutional adoption.” Public companies and major financial firms have increased exposure to digital assets. This is spurred by the Trump administration’s crypto-friendly policies that gave Wall Street greater confidence.
In the U.S., inflows to spot Bitcoin exchange-traded funds (ETFs) have climbed from $37.3 billion to $60.6 billion this year, while spot Ether ETF inflows quadrupled to $13.4 billion.
Investment advisory firms and hedge funds led the charge, boosting their Ether ETF holdings to $1.35 billion and $688 million, respectively. Brokerage and private equity firms also increased their positions, adding significant liquidity to the market.
Henley, which advises high-net-worth individuals on citizenship and residency, also ranked the most attractive destinations for digital assetv investors. Singapore, Hong Kong, and the United States topped its Crypto Adoption Index, which evaluates public uptake, infrastructure, innovation, regulation, economic factors, and tax friendliness. Switzerland and the United Arab Emirates rounded out the top five.
Smaller nations including Costa Rica, El Salvador, Greece, Latvia, Panama, New Zealand, and Uruguay are also courting crypto wealth, offering incentives and regulatory clarity to draw digital asset investors seeking favorable environments.
Henley’s findings combine proprietary wealth modeling with data from CoinMarketCap, Binance, and the Ethereum block explorer Etherscan.
