Unlike most universities that fold Bitcoin into broader crypto or blockchain tracks, Hesperides University has built a curriculum focused solely on Bitcoin’s technology, economics, and societal implications.
The program targets professionals, entrepreneurs, and researchers seeking deep expertise in the global Bitcoin ecosystem.
“Bitcoin deserves its academic space,” said Kristýna Mazánková, the program’s director.
She argued universities have long treated Bitcoin as a side topic associated with speculation and short-lived trends. However, she framed the new degree as a declaration that Bitcoin merits serious academic attention as both a technology and a tool for human freedom.
The curriculum blends academic rigor with practical work across monetary theory, philosophy, journalism, energy, cryptography, and economics. Courses will be led by a global faculty of educators and active professionals in the Bitcoin world. That said, the structure is designed to be accessible while maintaining high standards.
“This degree embodies our vision of independent education rooted in intellectual freedom,” said Gabriel Calzada Álvarez, Rector of Hesperides University. He emphasized creating a space where open minds can research, question, and collaborate on Bitcoin without ideological bias. Moreover, the university is positioning the program as a new benchmark for digital-asset scholarship.
Kristýna Mazánková will serve as director.
Before entering the Bitcoin industry in 2019, she worked in technology and corporate communications, later leading communications at SatoshiLabs and heading PR at BTC Inc.
At Hesperides, she is helping shape a new model of higher education that treats Bitcoin as a transformative social, technological, and economic phenomenon.
The program is fully online and structured for working professionals. Enrollment opens in January 2026, with early access available through the university website.
Moreover, the delivery model is designed to accommodate global schedules while preserving interaction with faculty and peers.
Hesperides is inviting educators and Bitcoin experts to join as faculty, mentors, and guest lecturers. Candidates with experience in economics, finance, journalism, mining, security, and cryptography can apply online.
In addition, readers can explore institutional background via the university’s Wikipedia profile.
By establishing a formal academic framework for Bitcoin, the university aims to bridge professional practice and scholarship.
If successful, the initiative could reset how universities approach digital money. It also signals rising demand for rigorous study of Bitcoin through a global master in bitcoin.
