Circle is discontinuing support for USDC and the legacy version of its Cross-Chain Transfer Protocol (CCTP V1) on the Noble blockchain, giving users and developers several months to prepare for the change.
According to an announcement published September 10, Circle said Noble will not receive support for CCTP V2 as the company transitions away from the older cross-chain infrastructure.
The changes will take place in stages. New USDC minting through Circle Mint will stop on October 13, while redemptions will remain available until January 12, 2027. On that date, Circle will pause the Noble USDC contract and all CCTP routes to and from the network.
Circle Mint customers will continue to have access to Noble through October 12 under the existing arrangements.
Beginning October 13, customers will no longer be able to mint new USDC to Noble through Circle Mint.
Redemptions from Noble through Circle Mint will continue until January 12, although CCTP V1 burn limits will begin decreasing from October 31.
Circle said those limits will eventually fall to zero as the transition approaches.
Institutional and self-custody users holding USDC on Noble will still be able to transfer the token on the network between October 13 and January 12.
Circle is advising holders to use available exit routes before the final pause, including:
Circle said it plans to publish a list of known exit venues but will not operate its own exit interface.
The company also warned that CCTP V1 exits could become more limited after December 1, as additional destination chains discontinue support for the legacy protocol.
USDC remaining on Noble after the January 12 pause will be subject to Circle’s manual redemption process for eligible holders.
Circle said it will take a snapshot of remaining Noble USDC balances on the pause date and open the manual redemption process beginning January 13, 2027.
Holders seeking manual redemption must meet Circle’s compliance and security requirements, hold the USDC in a wallet they control, and have a wallet address included in the January 12 snapshot.
Circle said further details will be published through its Help Center when the manual redemption process begins.
The shutdown also affects applications that have integrated CCTP V1 support for Noble.
Developers using Noble as a CCTP V1 route are expected to remove the network from their integrations before the final pause.
After the deadline, CCTP V1 transfers involving Noble will stop functioning.
Applications that rely on those routes will therefore need to update their infrastructure before the legacy routes are discontinued.
A key part of the change is that Noble will not transition from CCTP V1 to CCTP V2.
Circle is moving its broader cross-chain infrastructure toward the newer version, but Noble will not be included in that transition.
Users therefore need to use other supported routes rather than expecting a direct CCTP upgrade on Noble.
The Noble shutdown comes as Circle makes broader changes to its cross-chain infrastructure.
On September 2, Circle extended CCTP to support native EURC transfers, allowing the euro-backed stablecoin to move across supported networks through the same cross-chain messaging infrastructure used for USDC.
Earlier, in June, Circle expanded its presence on Cronos with native USDC, EURC and CCTP support.
These developments are separate from the Noble shutdown and show Circle using its cross-chain infrastructure across different supported networks.
Circle said the decision does not represent an end to its involvement with the broader Cosmos ecosystem.
The company pointed to Injective and other IBC-connected chains as continuing Circle partnerships and said USDC remains used across Cosmos-based DeFi.
The Noble change is therefore specific to Circle’s support for USDC issuance and CCTP V1 on that network.
The transition includes several deadlines for users and developers:
For users, the main requirement is to withdraw Noble-based USDC before the January deadline. Developers using CCTP V1 will need to update their applications before the routes are discontinued.
The change ends Circle’s CCTP V1 support on Noble, while users will need to rely on other supported networks and available exit routes.
