U.S. Government Moves Over $565M to Coinbase Prime in Seized Assets

According to on-chain data provider Onchain Lens, the transfers involve funds linked to seized assets from the Bitfinex hack and the collapsed exchange FTX and its affiliated trading firm Alameda Research.
On-chain records from Arkham Intelligence (on October 7 at 7:15 pm UTC) show multiple movements to Coinbase Prime deposit addresses. One transfer of 94.149 million USDT, valued at $94.15 million, occurred approximately 47 minutes prior to the data snapshot. A separate transfer of 24.885 million USDT, valued at $24.88 million, took place about two hours earlier. Both originated from addresses labeled as U.S. Government.
Another transfer involved 1,418 BTC, valued at approximately $118.37 million, from an intermediate wallet (bc1q75227twpygtrw…) to a Coinbase Prime address. That Bitcoin had been received shortly before from another wallet (bc1q9u670fwk…). A smaller transfer of 10 USDT and a transfer of 0.00449 ETH, valued at $11.53, were also recorded from U.S. government addresses.
Earlier in the same period, the government moved $471.7 million in assets. The breakdown included 3,974 BTC linked to the Bitfinex hacker, valued at $329.95 million; 657.92 BTC from FTX/Alameda seized funds, valued at $54.55 million; 750.19 WBTC from FTX/Alameda, valued at $62.34 million; and 24.89 million USDT from FTX/Alameda, valued at $24.88 million. Some of these transfers passed through newly created wallets before reaching Coinbase Prime.
Arkham data (on October 7 at 7:15 pm UTC) lists the aggregate value of U.S. government-linked cryptocurrency holdings at $26,679,293,054.14 across 618 addresses. The portfolio is dominated by Bitcoin, with 319.062 thousand BTC valued at $26.57 billion at a price of $83,278 per BTC.
Other holdings include 17.432 thousand ETH valued at $44.55 million, 22.175 thousand WBNB valued at $17.06 million, 13.572 million AUSDC valued at $13.57 million, 10.596 million USDC valued at $10.6 million, 6.603 million USDT valued at $6.6 million, and 2.205 thousand WETH valued at $5.64 million.
On July 15, the U.S. government transferred approximately $9.29 million worth of Ethereum to Coinbase Prime from FTX/Alameda seized funds. The transfer involved about 4,815 ETH from a wallet labeled “FTX Alameda.” At that time, government digital asset holdings exceeded $21.5 billion and were heavily concentrated in Bitcoin, with 324,552 BTC valued at roughly $21.22 billion.
On July 14, the government deposited $288.33 million worth of Bitcoin and Ether into Coinbase Prime from three separate criminal forfeitures. The largest portion came from an address labeled Ryan Farace seized funds, which sent 2,875 BTC valued at approximately $177.88 million. A second transfer moved 925.5 BTC valued at about $57.27 million from funds seized in the BTC-e case.
A third ransfer involved 30,007 ETH valued at approximately $53.09 million from the Brian Krewson forfeiture. An earlier transfer that day had moved 140.2 BTC valued at about $8.78 million into Coinbase Prime custody.
The latest series of transfers continues the pattern of consolidating seized cryptocurrency assets into Coinbase Prime addresses. All figures are based on publicly available on-chain data and Arkham labeling of government-linked wallets.
