Amundi, Europe’s largest asset manager, has launched a tokenized share class of its Amundi Core STOXX Europe 600 fund on the public Ethereum blockchain. The move extends the company’s blockchain-based investment offerings beyond money market products into European equity index investing.
According to a press release issued Thursday, the new share class allows units of the existing fund to be issued in digital form on a blockchain.
Tokenization involves representing ownership of financial assets through digital tokens recorded on a blockchain. In this case, the technology provides another way to issue and record fund units without replacing the fund’s existing investment structure.
The tokenized share class remains integrated into the fund’s existing operating model, and investors can continue accessing the fund through traditional investment channels.
Amundi developed the new solution in collaboration with CACEIS, an asset-servicing group that provides the technology and infrastructure for tokenizing fund units.
While CACEIS supports the blockchain-based issuance infrastructure, Amundi continues to manage the investment product.
The asset manager said the initiative reflects its broader strategy to extend tokenization beyond cash management and into other investment products. It also aims to develop tokenized funds that serve institutional investors and digital distribution platforms.
Amundi said tokenization could improve operational efficiency through the automation of certain processes, greater accessibility, faster settlement and increased transparency. However, the company presented these as potential benefits of the technology rather than measured results from the latest launch.
The latest launch follows Amundi’s earlier move into blockchain-based money market investments.
In November 2025, the company introduced a tokenized share class of its €5 billion AMUNDI FUNDS CASH EUR money market fund. The first transaction took place on November 4, with the new share class, called AMUNDI FUNDS CASH EUR – J28 EUR DLT, issued on the Ethereum blockchain.
That project was also developed with CACEIS, which provided the digital wallets and infrastructure used to record ownership and process investor subscriptions and withdrawals. Despite the introduction of blockchain technology, the fund remained available through its regular investment channels.
Amundi took another step in March 2026 when it partnered with tokenization platform Spiko to launch the Spiko Amundi Overnight Swap Fund (SAFO). The fund was introduced on both Ethereum and Stellar with $100 million in committed assets.
SAFO was designed to help financial institutions manage their cash and collateral while keeping their money available overnight. It supports four currencies: the euro, US dollar, pound sterling and Swiss franc. Amundi manages the fund, while CACEIS handles its administration and depositary services.
The fund also uses Chainlink infrastructure to record its net asset value (NAV) on Ethereum and Stellar, allowing the information to be accessed through blockchain networks.
With the latest launch, Amundi has extended its tokenization strategy from cash management products to a European equity index fund. The move adds another traditional investment product to its blockchain-based offerings while retaining the existing fund’s operating structure.
