In a significant move towards advancing digital identity verification, MIMOS Berhad, the research and development arm of the Malaysian Government, has entered into a partnership with the Worldcoin Foundation, Tools for Humanity (TFH), and MyEG, a leading e-government services provider. This collaboration aims to integrate Worldcoin
The Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) signed between these entities marks a crucial step in enhancing Malaysia’s digital identity landscape. By leveraging Worldcoin protocol and TFH technologies, this partnership seeks to boost ongoing and future efforts related to digital credentials. The collaboration emphasizes the importance of digital proof of humanness, especially in an era where artificial intelligence (AI) is rapidly advancing.
As part of this initiative, new Worldcoin operations in Malaysia will allow individuals to access humanness verification using state-of-the-art iris imaging technology developed by TFH for the Worldcoin project. This technology ensures a secure and efficient way to confirm individual identity, supporting the nation’s efforts in digital transformation.
The partnership between Worldcoin, MIMOS, and MyEG extends beyond identity verification. Several potential areas of collaboration include:
The Worldcoin Foundation will ensure that its technology remains open source and freely accessible, fostering innovation and transparency. Meanwhile, TFH will provide the necessary technical expertise and support for both the Orb and World App. MyEG will contribute by working on technical integrations and hardware deployment, further strengthening Malaysia’s digital infrastructure.
This agreement with the Malaysian Government follows recent Worldcoin launches in Europe and Latin America. To date, 6,463,869 individuals have verified their humanness globally through Worldcoin, showcasing the growing demand for secure and reliable identity verification.
Earlier this year, the Worldcoin Foundation introduced a secure multi-party computation (SMPC) system, a breakthrough in cryptography that enhances privacy and security in biometric data usage. This system allows each iris code to be divided into multiple secret components, enabling unique identity verification without revealing any personal information. This innovation ensures that biometric data is protected while providing a robust solution for identity verification.
The partnership between MIMOS, Worldcoin, TFH, and MyEG signifies a major advancement in Malaysia’s digital infrastructure. By integrating Worldcoin’s cutting-edge technology, Malaysia is set to become a leader in digital proof of humanness, ensuring privacy and security in the digital age. As more countries explore similar solutions, Malaysia’s collaboration with Worldcoin could serve as a model for global digital identity verification systems.
