Ripple CEO Monica Long recently shared her cryptocurrency predictions for 2026 in a blog post.
Accordingly, Monica Long expects the institutionalization of cryptocurrencies to accelerate significantly this year, and predicts that half of Fortune 500 companies will adopt cryptocurrencies this year.
At this point, Long predicted that the value of cryptocurrencies in institutional treasuries would exceed $1 trillion.
Long also touched upon stablecoins, stating that they would be the foundation of a global payment system, not just an alternative.
“2025 was the most exciting year for cryptocurrencies and Ripple.”
2026 will be the year when the institutionalization of cryptocurrencies will gain significant momentum.
Stablecoins, in particular, will become the fundamental infrastructure for global payments, not just an alternative payment network. Companies will adopt cryptocurrencies and use digital dollars to secure real-time liquidity and significantly increase capital efficiency.”
Long concluded by adding that the number of “Digital Asset Treasure (DAT)” companies has increased from just four in 2020 to over 200 today, and that another 100 companies will be established by 2026.
Although Monica Long made positive predictions for cryptocurrencies in 2026, the price of XRP dropped by over 3% to $1.9, falling below $2.
