WhiteBIT Coin (WBT) Spiked 73% in 1Y: Will It Continue Rally Ahead of Major Unlock?

WhiteBIT Coin ($WBT), the native utility token of the WhiteBIT exchange, has delivered strong performance over the past year amid broader market recovery and exchange growth.

From approximately holding $27-28 levels around March 2025 to peaking at as high as $65-66 three months ago, $WBT has posted optimistic gains in the last 12 months.

This rally reflects increasing adoption of WhiteBIT’s platform, token utility perks like trading fee discounts, and consistent buyback-and-burn mechanisms. In addition, WBT has had major scheduled unlocks before (including 2022 and a big one flagged for May 2025), and the market did not treat unlocks as a one-day “game over” event

However, the attention now turns to a significant upcoming event: a major token unlock in mid-March 2026, which DefiLlama is explicitly showing as ~38% of float worth ~$4.1B, and could introduce substantial supply pressure and test the token’s momentum.

Latest market data shows that WBT is currently trading near $47.35, with a 24 hour trading volume increasing 27% to $80 million. The token has gained 73% in the past year (1Y), though it is down nearly 28% from its all-time high of $65.30, hit in December 2025, according to data from CoinMarketCap

The TradingView chart, on the other hand, tells a different story, with it noticing a sharp spike to $89.6 in late November.

The token serves as a core utility asset on WhiteBIT, a leading cryptocurrency exchange with over 8 million users worldwide. WBT offers benefits such as reduced trading fees (up to significant percentages for holders), participation in launchpad events, and other ecosystem incentives.

The Upcoming WBT Token Unlock

While the price action of WBT seems exciting, a major vesting event looms on March 13, 2026, raising anticipations around it.

This unlock will bring approximately 81.5 million WBT tokens (allocated primarily to WhiteBIT Funds) to circulating supply. This represents a significant portion—around 20-27% of the current circulating supply—potentially injecting billions in equivalent value (at current prices, roughly $3.9-4.2 billion) into the market.

The unlock forms part of the broader tokenomics schedule, where early private sale allocations from 2022-2023 have been vesting over cliffs and linear periods. Industry data indicates March 2026 unlocks across projects could total over $6 billion, with $WBT contributing the lion’s share (around 69% in some estimates).

Historically, such large unlocks have often raised concerns about selling pressure from recipients (e.g., team/foundation entities), which could weigh on price in the short term if demand doesn’t absorb the new supply. Precedents show mixed outcomes, with some tokens dip pre-unlock on anticipation, while strong fundamentals can lead to quick recoveries.

Analyst PoV on WBT

Technical analysts highlight $WBT’s resilience on the weekly timeframe. The token is currently retesting a multi-year ascending support trendline near $48-50 for the fourth time since late 2024. Previous retests of this zone triggered rallies of 20-50% or more, suggesting a potential “make-or-break” scenario.

According to Zach Humphries, a popular analyst on X, recently highlighted that the weekly close above $50 could invalidate bearish concerns and open targets toward $64 (prior highs) or even higher ($70-72 in optimistic setups), fueled by ongoing exchange expansion and holder incentives.

Besides, community sentiment leans bullish (around 80% in some polls), with accumulation signals from rising volumes during dips. However, as the looming March unlock adds risk, analysts caution that failure to hold $48 could lead to deeper corrections toward lower supports.

The token’s performance has been tied to WhiteBIT’s real-world growth rather than hype, positioning it as a more stable play among CEX tokens. If ecosystem metrics (volume, burns, user adoption) continue upward, the unlock may be absorbed without major disruption, similar to how prior vesting phases coincided with rallies.

Investors should monitor price action closely around the unlock, alongside broader market conditions. As always, this is not financial advice—readers are advised to conduct their own research and consider risk management in this dynamic space.
