Key Highlights

trade[XYZ] has launched Events, a new type of fixed-expiry contract on Hyperliquid, initially allowing users to trade price-based outcomes tied to equities, commodities and pre-IPO assets.

According to an announcement the launch on September 10, saying the product will eventually cover a wider range of events, including sports, politics and economic developments.

The initial markets are based on Up/Down contracts, with settlement determined by rules published for each market.

Events Use Hyperliquid’s HIP-4 Framework

The contracts use HIP-4, Hyperliquid’s framework for outcome-based markets.

Unlike perpetual futures, Events have a defined expiry and settlement date. According to Hyperliquid’s documentation, they do not use leverage, funding payments, liquidations, or auto-deleveraging.

The contracts are fully collateralized, meaning they do not rely on leveraged positions or liquidation mechanisms.

Each market has its own terms covering the possible outcomes, trading deadline, resolution method, and settlement process.

Initial Markets Track Asset Prices

The first markets launched through trade[XYZ] focus on whether specified price conditions will be met for assets including equities, commodities and pre-IPO markets.

The contracts can use pricing information from Hyperliquid’s perpetual markets as part of their resolution process.

The company said additional markets will be introduced as the product develops.

Resolution Rules Vary by Contract

Resolution is a central part of the Events structure.

trade[XYZ]’s documentation specifies the outcome conditions, trading deadline, and settlement methodology for each market.

HyperCore handles the trading activity, while the designated outcome deployer or an authorized settlement sub-deployer submits the outcome on-chain.

As a result, traders need to review the terms of individual contracts to understand how and when a market will settle.

BitGo Adds Institutional Access to Hyperliquid Perpetuals

The launch also follows a recent BitGo integration involving Hyperliquid’s perpetual markets.

BitGo enabled eligible self-custody hot wallets to connect to Hyperliquid perpetuals, allowing clients to maintain their existing wallet approval controls while accessing the exchange’s markets.

The integration concerns institutional access to perpetual futures, while Events introduce a separate fixed-expiry contract structure.

Previously Sought U.S. Oversight for Commodity Perpetuals

The Events launch also follows an earlier regulatory proposal from trade[XYZ] and Hyperliquid.

On August 26, the companies submitted a joint comment letter to the CFTC arguing that crude oil and natural gas perpetual contracts could be offered under U.S. regulatory oversight.

The proposal concerned commodity perpetuals rather than the fixed-expiry event contracts now being introduced.

The earlier filing nevertheless shows that trade[XYZ] and Hyperliquid have been exploring additional forms of derivative products and regulatory structures.

Sports and Other Events Planned

trade[XYZ] said the Events product will eventually expand beyond asset-price contracts.

Planned categories include sports, politics, economics and other real-world events, placing the product in the broader prediction-market segment alongside platforms such as Kalshi and Polymarket.

The company has not yet provided the full rollout schedule for those additional categories.

For now, the launch is limited to financial price contracts, with the broader Events category expected to cover additional real-world outcomes later.
